Theatre Festival & Forum on Cultural Resistance

Jenin Refugee Camp, Occupied Palestine April 4-9, 2016

The Freedom Theatre's unique take on artistic expression as a form of resistance to oppression has gathered interest around the world. The theatre is frequently invited to international workshops and conferences to share its experiences and methods.

During April 4-9, there is an exceptional opportunity to explore the concept of cultural resistance in Palestine, with The Freedom Theatre's team present and with the addition of prominent Palestinian and international scholars, artists and activists.

The Forum will center around the concept of cultural resistance in a Palestinian context but taking inspiration from other movements around the world. Topics covered include Women, theatre and resistance, Culture under occupation and The role of culture within the larger Palestinian popular struggle movement.

Simultaneously, we will present theatre performances by The Freedom Theatre and other ensembles from the West Bank, Palestine ’48 as well as Indian street theatre group Jana Natya Manch, along with film screenings, workshops and informal meetings.
