Al Mirya’ Wal-Qurqa’

“Al Mirya’ Wal-Qurqa’ ” is a Forum play created upon a field research conducted by members of the production team with governmental, private organizations and Palestinian farmers.

This theatre piece sheds light on important issues, and urgent folders in the field of agriculture, and the various obstacles the Palestinian farmers face. The play aspires to stimulate the audience to think of their responsibilities towards the agricultural sector.

Al Mirya’ Wal-Qurqa’It motivates the public to think of ways and laws that aim to improve the agricultural sector in Palestine; especially when agriculture is one of the most important means of resistance for Palestinians under occupation.

This play focuses on three important topics:
First: The challenge that Palestinian farmers face in distributing their products, when facing the fierce competition with Israeli products.
Second: The crisis of water resources and reservoirs especially in the Jordan valley, since this area C is under complete Israeli control; and the occupation abuses all the water in favor of the settlements.
Third:  The crisis of agricultural land confiscation by the Israeli military, and its effect on farming and people’s lives.

The play's director Iman Aoun says ”when we started researching the topic of this play we faced a lot of tangled subjects, you can’t talk about agricultural problems in Palestine without talking about the water and marketing problems or the land, that’s why we chose to talk about 3 important subjects through 3 different forum scenes”. She adds ”Forum ‪Theatre‬ is a space were the audience would improvise actions in an attempt to change the outcome of the story, it’s important because it gives the audience the platform to express and try to make a change”.

The joker of the plays is Bayan Shbib and the cast are Edward Muallem, Mohammad Eid, Munira Zreiqe, Atta Nasser and Ramy Daraweesh.
