Drama Shelter

The Yes Theatre has launched a new initiative: "To provide a drama shelter for juveniles -children in conflict with the law instead of being sent to prison".

After the third round of Yes Theater to host juveniles instead of sending them to prison; and in spite of the lack of resources to accomplish this goal, the Yes Theatre has decided to go for the fourth round and host another 20 juveniles (kids in conflict with the law).

The tool will be used is drama therapy as a rehabilitation method to help children to overcome what they have been through, to develop a coping mechanism that enhances their resilience and improve their communication with others, as well as their understanding of themselves.

"A child aged 12 years old was hosted by the theater after he was convicted of stealing money. After participating in a drama program along with a group of juveniles and other children, an evaluation has been conducted of the impact of the program on their behavior, the kid has brought the amount of money he found in the theater to his drama facilitator; furthermore, he has shown a great progress in his personality, communication, and creativity.

For our astonishment, he showed a great talent in theatre and was sent by YT with another three peers to Germany participating in a play in the 13th Children Theater festival.

The child called his drama teacher twice asking if there is another chance to participate in another play".
