(ETH) serves as a platform for theatre groups, theatre associations, experts and networks within the area of amateur theatre as well as professional theatre education in Europe. Under the roof of the ETH a professionally and politically sustainable European theatre network of people, organisations and activities shall be developed. The European Theatre House has its head office in the Professorenhaus in the city of Lingen / Ems (Germany).

The mission of the European Theatre House is the integration and advancement of institutions of the performing arts and theatre education in Europe. Individuals, associations and theatre groups may become member of the European Theatre House and as equal partners provide a strong voice for theatre in Europe.European databases, expert conferences, theatre encounters and projects, intercultural research und publications allow a European consideration as well as an extrapolation of the common matter. Within the interactive European theatre map there is information of members, partners and their activities conducted and opened for public.

The European Theatre House was founded in May of 2013 in the city of Lingen (Ems), Germany. Founding members are the Association Internationale du Théatre Amateur / International Amateur Theatre Association (AITA/IATA), European Drama Encounters / Recontres Européennes de Drama (EDERED), the Bund Deutscher Amateur Theater e.V. (BDAT e.V.), the Bundesverband Theaterpädagogik e.V., the city of Lingen as well as the county Emsland, the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück, facility Lingen and the Emsländische Landschaft e.V. für die Landkreise Emsland und Grafschaft Bentheim.
